This Tech Tuesday we are taking a look at a website called TwitCritics. Heading into the Holiday Season I plan to see lots of movies, and love to get reviews before I choose theatres over rentals! TwitCritics is an ingenious website that collects thousands and thousands of tweets that ordinary people like you and I have written about a movie or film that we have seen, and then aggregates the tweets into a review system.

Watch NFB Films On Your iPhone For Free

The NFB (Canadian National Film Board) has released a new app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that allows you to watch most of the hundreds of NFB films in their library, right on your iPhone and all for FREE.

The app includes the ability to search for a certain film, bookmark favourites or even visit channels and search by category of film.

The app also includes a “Watch Later” feature that lets you download the movie to your mobile device now and watch it later, when you might not have such a fast connection or any connection at all. The movies are valid for 24 hours after downloading for offline viewing.

I’m off to find the Log Driver’s Waltz!

Legal Movie Downloads Coming to Canada

Zip.ca (the Canadian online DVD rental service) & CinemaNow (online video solutions company) have joined forces and are working together to figure out the technical details on how to bring on-demand video downloads to Canada.

There is still no word yet on if it will be a monthly subscription or one-off downloads.

Not a lot of details are available yet, but this is a great step in the right direction for on-demand video services in Canada!

Copyright... where do the lines start? Or more importantly stop...

Imagine the scenario “Hi Guys, come over to my place tonight. I rented the Starship Troopers Trilogy, but only had enough money for one license so make sure everyone brings $3.50 to remit back to the rights owners. By the way – lets order pizza too!”
