3D gaming takes center stage at E3

If there's one watchword at this year's E3 (other than motion controllers) it's the rise of 3D. Sony came out strong at their press conference with Killzone 3, their blockbuster title built from the ground up to take advantage of Sony’s upcoming 3D televisions. Watching and playing the game in 3D really does feel more immersive than simply playing a standard version of the game. Characters quite literally pop out of the screen and as the player you “hold” the gun rather than guiding it. Sony's often delayed Gran Turismo 5 will also be in 3D, bringing realistic racing out of the screen and into your eyeballs. Sony also stated that they’ll be upgrading many current games to 3D by deploying patches through their online network.

Google Comes Out With A Smart TV

The much anticipated Google TV will be called Smart TV. Now, isn't that smart?! There's been a lot of buzz around Google coming out with a television platform, and now it has become reality. The bigger question is: will you buy a Google set-top box?

More details about the Smart TV will be released later today at the Google's annual developer conference in San Franscisco. We know that Google will create an Android-based set-top box and partner with Sony and Intel. As well, Logitech will be creating a keyboard-equipped remote for it. Smart TV is expected to integrate web services and run Android apps. Developers must be excited to have a new project - writing applications for a new television platform!

Mike goes on Global Noon News and shows off how easy it is to print lab-quality photos on the HP Photosmart A646 printer direct from the Bluetooth enabled Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Handset, and demos the Chapters-Indigo Kobo eReader.
