Get A Nexus One For Rogers (and Fido!)
By Veronica Bell on Mar 22, 2010 at 1:01 PM
Google Nexus One phone was announced earlier this year as an unlocked GSM phone you could purchase directly from Google. The problem is, that not all GSM networks use the same frequencies so you were limited to the networks you could use it on. Google has solved that problem for people who want to jump on to Rogers (and Fido!) or AT&T and they are now even shipping to Canada.
The search engine giant turned smartphone producer has released another version of their popular Nexus One that will work on both AT&T and Rogers. It will also work on Telus and Bell's 3G network, but the downside is they will have no secondary GSM network to fall back on in case you are in areas with weak 3G coverage.
Opera Releases Mini 5 Beta
By Veronica Bell on Mar 17, 2010 at 9:18 AM
Every week someone I talk to complains about problems with the browser that came on their smartphone. Whether it's the Blackberry Browser or the Nokia Browser, there is always someone that doesn't like their default browser.
While browser producer Opera isn't new to the game, they have recently released a new version of their Mini Browser. It's still in Beta mode but Opera Mini 5 is a huge improvement on Mini 4 as well as the majority of other default browsers.

Dell Mini 3 Smartphone
By Jeremy Spruston on Jan 10, 2010 at 2:35 PM
Dell is showing off its first Smartphone, the Android-based Mini 3, at CES this week.
Confusing numbered name aside, this marks the company's first steps into the ultra competitive Smartphone landscape.
The touch screen phone will ship with a modified build of Android 1.6 and will be available to U.S. cell phone users on the AT&T network.
No word yet on when we might see the Dell Mini 3 in Canada. You could speculate that since it is on AT&T, when it does show up, it could be on any of the big 3 mobile carriers here in Canada, since they all use the same technology for their networks.
Google Nexus One Launches Today
By Kevin Lau on Jan 5, 2010 at 11:38 AM
The long-awaited launch event of Google's Nexus One smart phone is happening right now!
Just as Google has revolutionized pretty much every field they are involved with, many thought that the release of the Nexus One would usher in a mobile revolution as well - unlocked, powerful handsets for a low, ad-subsidized price.
With it being priced at $530USD unlocked (for Canadians, it would likely cost the CAD equivalent of that plus an additional $82), it is looking more and more just like another Android handset and not the revolution that many were hoping for.
