In the week ending March 13, 2010, Facebook officially surpassed Google to become the most visited website that week in the US.

Although Facebook has topped Google on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and March 6 and 7 ths year, this is the first time that its weekly total is higher than that of Google's.

Heart Racing at the Paralympics

At the Vancouver 2010 Winter Paralympics, GE health care has debuted the MAC 800 ECG, a portable ECG (electrocardiograph), to help assist physician care to athletes and trainers during the Games.

Not a gadget we usually cover on GetConnected but when you consider that a full size ECG usually weights around 65 pounds and this portable, briefcase-sized one weights less than seven pounds, you realize it's a big feat of technology.

Facebook Goes Loco

The word on the grapevine is that next month Facebook plans to unveil a tool that will add another dynamic to your friend integration. It seems you will be able to keep up to speed with your friends’ current locations.

Facebook has been working on a location-based tool for almost a year, but have been waiting to get their privacy terms water-tight and the service perfected. Rumour has it that there will be two distinct features of the tool. In its simplest version you’ll be able to directly share your location with friends. The more interesting aspect is that this tool will allow for independent developers to create apps that take advantage of the Facebook location function.

About 100 million people access Facebook from mobile devices, which makes a location feature an incredibly attractive idea to app developers.

Opera Releases Mini 5 Beta

Every week someone I talk to complains about problems with the browser that came on their smartphone. Whether it's the Blackberry Browser or the Nokia Browser, there is always someone that doesn't like their default browser.

While browser producer Opera isn't new to the game, they have recently released a new version of their Mini Browser. It's still in Beta mode but Opera Mini 5 is a huge improvement on Mini 4 as well as the majority of other default browsers.

"@anywhere" is Twitter's newest feature, offering Twitter users the ability to post directly to their Twitter accounts from third-party websites, bypassing the step of going to www.twitter.com altogether.

In many ways, it is similar to Facebook's "Facebook Connect" feature that has grown to be very popular.

When this feature is ready to roll out, initial participating sites will include Amazon, Bing, Yahoo!, Digg, eBay, and The New York Times, among a few others (Google is not part of the list).
