Vancouver is Under Surveillance, Starting Now!

All of you walking around the streets of Vancouver and Whistler, here's a heads up - you're being watched!
Nearly 1,000 Olympic security cameras went live yesterday. The RCMP-led Olympic Integrated Security Unit have installed more than nine hundred closed-circuit TV cameras in and around the Olympic venues. The City of Vancouver will use the ninety cameras to watch the downtown streets and LiveCity sites.
As Vancouver gets busier with just 10 days before the Games begin, these security cameras are a part of the $1 billion price tag for the Games' security. It's an effort to watch closely for crime, protest, and any medical emergency. But, privacy watchdogs are nervous over the electronic surveillance.
Chantal Bernier, Canada's assistant privacy commissioner, told Canadian Press that they've "been promised the cameras will come down after the Games. And any recordings from the cameras can only be kept for a limited time unless they become evidence in a court case."

I think these are a great
I think these are a great idea.
The only people that have to fear, are those that are breaking the law, so regular people like you and me, will be fine.
I hope Vancouver keeps them up after the games!
I agree! If they help crack
I agree! If they help crack down on crime, they will be a helping hand to the police.
