FanCouver is a great spot in the heart of Yaletown Vancouver where you can get free Wi-Fi and indulge in hot chocolate while watching the live Olympic coverage. Yahoo! Canada is behind the interactive location. They have set up lots of cool things to make you feel part of the Olympics.
There's a photo booth that allows you to digitaly accessorize with sports equipment (and feel like an athlete), and you can even play Wii and compete for a chance to win a Wii and Wii Fit Plus!
On our recent visit, Mike Agerbo spoke with Elivis Stojko, Canadian figure skater and two-time Olympic silver medalist. Stojko is one of Yahoo! Canada's Olympic analysts. Listen to what he had to say to GetConnected below:

How To Fit 24 Rooms Into One Apartment
By Kevin Lau on Feb 12, 2010 at 6:55 AM
Hong Kong architect, Gary Chang, actually managed to fit 24 rooms in his apartment, a 344 square foot one at that. We Canadians are so accustomed to large spaces that we wouldn't even have considered ever having to do something like this, but in Hong Kong, where living space is regarded as a valuable commodity, people have to be creative to get the most out of their space.
So how did he do it? Check out the video and floor plans to find out after the break.
How will Bell deliver the Games to the world?
By Leila Pejman on Feb 9, 2010 at 4:59 PM
Three more days until the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Winter Games. How will Bell deliver the Games to the world?
Bell Canada is a Premier National Partner and the Exclusive Telecommunications Partner to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. At a technical briefing in Vancouver yesterday, Justin Webb, VP of Olympic Services and Operation for Bell Canada, described that it took their team more than five years to build specific infrastructure, known as the Olympic Network in order to deliver the largest multi-sport event worldwide.
Could you imagine if a Bell employee had to tell an Olympic ski jumper that they'd have to redo the jump, due to "technical difficulties"? That would be corporate suicide for Bell - the pressure is on! Webb expressed his confidence that Bell will provide the best for the world to see.

Vancouver is Under Surveillance, Starting Now!
By Leila Pejman on Feb 2, 2010 at 6:16 PM
All of you walking around the streets of Vancouver and Whistler, here's a heads up - you're being watched!
Nearly 1,000 Olympic security cameras went live yesterday. The RCMP-led Olympic Integrated Security Unit have installed more than nine hundred closed-circuit TV cameras in and around the Olympic venues. The City of Vancouver will use the ninety cameras to watch the downtown streets and LiveCity sites.
As Vancouver gets busier with just 10 days before the Games begin, these security cameras are a part of the $1 billion price tag for the Games' security. It's an effort to watch closely for crime, protest, and any medical emergency. But, privacy watchdogs are nervous over the electronic surveillance.
Giant Samsung Omnia II Interactive Display - Check It Out (or Not!)
By Kevin Lau on Jan 28, 2010 at 9:27 AM
The 2010 Winter Olympics is only a couple of weeks away, and to show off its official mobile device, Samsung has errected a giant display at Waterfront station in Vancouver. The two gigantic interactive touch-enabled Samsung Omnia IIs let you play around with the Windows Mobile 6.5 interface alongside the two most popular Vancouver Olympic mascots, Quatchi and Miga.
To be honest, I was pretty impressed by how it looked when I walked by it on my way to work. I thought about all the cool stuff a public device like that could do: it could let visitors take photo and video postcards, check the weather and news around the world, show the Olympics medal count, and so on.
So I went and checked it out when I got a chance.
Ontario Signs Renewable Energy Deal with Samsung
By Kevin Lau on Jan 26, 2010 at 9:03 AM
Ontario has signed a multibillion-dollar deal - $7 billion to be exact - with a South Korean consortium led by electronics giant Samsung, to build wind and solar farms across Ontario, with a stated goal of providing enough electricity to power 580,000 households by 2016.
That's about 4% of Ontario's total electricity bill.
Due to the overpriced rates of obtaining this green energy, there has been much criticism surrounding the deal, mainly that it is not in the best interest of taxpayers, and that the project could be executed more cheaply if Samsung was bypassed altogether.
However, the provincial government said that this project will create an estimated 16,000 green energy jobs, 4,000 of these being permanent ones and 1,440 will be in Ontario's manufacturing sector which has been one of the hardest hit sectors by the recession.

Previously, the fast good giant had been charging $2.95 for two hours of Internet access. This is great news for people who travel to the States a lot because it seems like no matter where you go, you can find a McD's.
