TV Show House Shot On DSLR Camera
By Eddy Wedlund on May 12, 2010 at 6:30 AM
In the last year and a half we have seen the shift of DSLR cameras to include HD video. Nikon has included 720p in several of their cameras, while Canon went with 1080p in their line of DSLR's.
Well when the director of the top-rated TV show House was looking for a small form-factor camera to shoot in some tight spaces for the show's season finale, he turned to the Canon 5D Mark II Digital SLR camera.
Remembering The Floppy Disk
By Eddy Wedlund on May 11, 2010 at 9:12 AM
Like the expiry date on a jug of milk, the floppy disk is set to expire. Well, not "expire" per se, the ones you have at home will still work, but Sony, the last major manufacturer of the magnetic disks has announced that the last floppies will roll off the production lines in March of next year.
It's not like the little black disks have really been that popular in last 5 or 10 years, but it doesn't mean they don't still have a soft spot in the hearts of many computer geeks ... err ... users. Whether it was installing Windows 3.1 on your old 286 or Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego on your slightly newer 386, the floppy was a big part (or multiple floppies) of the process.

Save $$$ with Groupon.com
By Eddy Wedlund on May 6, 2010 at 6:25 AM
Groupon.com is a website that brings you savings right to your inbox. The website is based around finding local deals in your geographical area.
You set your home city and sign up, then each day Groupon.com will send you a "Deal of the Day". The deal varies from day to day, but could be a deal on a restaurant, material goods, services or even an attraction and are often heavily discounted deals.
The way it works, is each day, Groupon.com will post a deal for your town. You can then decide if you want to take advantage of that deal or not. If you decide to take part, you click on "Buy", indicating that you would like to buy-in to the deal. Each deal has a minimum "buy-in" that ranges from deal to deal, but most are between 20 - 100 people. Once that minimum buy-in has been reached, the deal gets activated and everyone who bought-in gets the deal.
Virus Warning From Canada Post
By Eddy Wedlund on May 1, 2010 at 9:45 AM
Canada Post, our national mail carrier, is warning customers to be cautious of suspicious e-mails that appear like they are coming from a Canada Post e-mail address.
The e-mails, which are definitely not coming from Canada Post, are telling customers that a package was attempted to be delivered to their home with no success. The e-mail then suggests users open the attachment for the parcel delivery notification, but the attachment is most often a virus.

The idea behind Instant Personalization is to allow Facebook users to enjoy other websites customized to their likings based on things they are interested in and "like" on Facebook as long as you are also logged in to the social-networking giant.
